Dream Cover- Frazetta

Of all the artist who have ever painted a fantasy image, Frazetta is by far my favorite. If I had the proverbial Time Machine, and could go back and design the covers of the original fantasy RPG books there is no doubt exactly who I wish illustrated them. As much as I love what Trampier did for the 1st edition PH cover, these are my ultimate dream covers:

  1. It's probably for the best, the awesome of that would have torn a rift in space time.

  2. I love the mockups (and who isn't a fan of Frazetta?) but really they all strike me as later edition because of the focus on the individual vs. the group. Just sayin'!

Peace & love, peace & love...

  3. Telecenter: you have a point. The awesomeness might have destroyed the universe.
ze bulette: sure, sure, but for a cover thess are like 357 magnum bullets right into your eyeballs! My 13 year old self would have exploded with amazement.

  4. Wizards could literally pay the Frazetta estate right now to make this happen. The prices are not out of the ballpark. But I would only want it on something that was like the original edition.

  6. Frazetta painted pictures of guys who never die. That is a total mismatch with ol' school D&D.

When it comes to ol' school D&D, Trampier and Otus is where it's at.
