Jim Roslof

Pray for Jim Roslof. Word is he is gravely ill. He art directed some of the greatest art in the history of D&D.

  1. That's sad news. I learned a few years ago that the cover of my beloved Dungeon! board game was a Rosloff piece (and not Otus as I'd long assumed). He's since been one of my favorite, if under-recognized artists.

Here's hoping he pulls through or at least is well cared for.

  2. And, importantly, he was in charge of the art department when such great artists as Dave Trampier, Dave Sutherland III, Diesel, and others were illustrating the early D&D books. He also hired Keith Parkinson, a personal favorite of mine.

  3. This is upsetting. Btw, it looks like whoever posted that twitter has taken it down.

  4. I will pray for him. Probably my single most favorite TSR artist (love the revised D1-2 cover).

  5. I hope we hear some good news soon, he's a nice guy and I've never heard a bad word about him from other guys in the same profession.

  6. Sorry guys, but he passed on early Saturday. I've known him since I was a kid, his family and ours are close. He has left some unfinished work...beautiful stuff I saw firsthand a few weeks ago that will still be used at some later point I believe.

He's no longer in any pain, so I am relieved. I'm really going to miss him.
