More White Apes

Various design concepts for the white apes in Warriors of the Red Planet.

I've explored a small range here from very literal apes (4 & 6 above) to slightly more exotic designs. I also like the idea of tiger stripes, so their fur would be much like a white tiger (3 & 5). I'm curious to hear which of these designs tickles your fancy, or even if none of them do.

  2. They're all awesome but 6 is my favorite due to how much I like real life gorillas.

I notice varying amounts of Hanna-Barbara influence?

  3. I like 1-3 all for different reasons.

  4. I love the shape and movement of #3. It also seems a little edgy. #2 is my second favorite because of the menacing stance.

  6. Thanks, all. I think I agree #2 is working best. They shouldn't look too much like earth apes. I'd actually like to go much more alien with them, but don't want to stray too far from the source material.

Blair: I never considered Hanna-Babara an influence on my work, but I have been studying a lot of classic Disney lately for research on another job I'm doing.

  8. I like em all, but number 2 is my favorite, it reminds me of art from Savage Sword of Conan.

  9. I like 2, 5, and 6. 6 is the most natural, but I could see him in stripes!

  10. I don't really know my animation references, but there's a definite classic american animation thing going on with some of them so it may be the Disney research?
